Local hip hop artist iFani, real name Mzayifani Boltin, is under attack on social media after he posted a somewhat distasteful tweet about the attack on Boity Thulo by Bujy Bikwa last week.
iFani tweeted “If God gave me a chance To hit Boity I wouldn’t use a bottle. ”
He was joining in on a trending conversation of Bujy-Boity saga where Bujy Bikwa is charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after he hit Boity with a glass in a hotel in Midrand.
If God gave me a chance
To hit Boity
I wouldn’t use a bottle.

iFani’s advocates have tried to explain that the meaning of the message was in the ‘naughty fruits’ at the end of the tweet but it has not changed how others felt.
A sympathiser tweeted “It’s an unfortunate metaphor. Clever wordplay, yes but read the room. .”

Incensed users went all-out attacking the Iingoma Ezimnandi hitmaker accusing him of sexualizing Boity who is already traumatized by the physical assault at the hands of Bujy.
“Say your uncle assaults your mother with a bottle. As she bleeds fighting for her life, A guy from your street passing by decides to sexualize her like iFani just did. What’s your response?” read one tweet.
Some attacked iFani likening the ‘joke’ to his singing career.
Your joke is as unfortunate as your career.

Meanwhile, iHarare reported that Bujy has since responded in a statement saying that he was also assaulted during the fracas. He said throwing the bottle was not intentional.
