Tragedy As Man Is Found Hanging In A Mutare Hotel
A Mutare man was last Saturday found hanging from a towel hanger in a room at Eastgate Hotel, iHarare has learnt.
Manicaland Police spokesperson Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the incident to Chipinge Times.
Chananda said the deceased, Delroy Mabambe checked into Eastgate Hotel which is located in Mutare CBD on Friday. He was found hanging on a rope tied to a towel hanger in his room the next morning by a hotel receptionist.
It is reported that the receptionist made the decision to check on Mabambe after he failed to pick up several calls from the hotel reception.
“The deceased’s body was found hanging at around 11am by a hotel receptionist who went to check up on him after he failed to answer several calls from the hotel reception. Investigations are underway,” said Chananda.
The publication also reported that some sources who spoke to its news crew are suspecting foul play.
They argue that circumstances surrounding his suicide are not clear.
In other news, iHarare reported that a Zimbabwean trio was arrested in South Africa on Monday for stealing railway tracks.
Three Zimbabwean men Maxwell Muchenje, 39, Maxwell Dube, 32, and Witness Mbabo, 27, were arrested together with 13 other people in South Africa for stealing transformers and railway tracks in Mpumalanga province.
Hawks spokesperson for Mpumalanga, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said:
“Our team received information about intruders who had allegedly stolen railway lines in Santa Dullstroom who were driving towards Middelburg,” she said.
The team responded and acted on the information. They found four trucks inside Mashcor Scrap dealership still loaded with railway tracks.
Captain Sekgotodi said they also established that the railway tracks had been stolen from a decommissioned line, while the transformers and palisade were stolen from the working substation.
